About

Reading the things I write about, viewing the photos I share, considering the quotes I like, and especially appreciating along with me all the wonderful people in my life whom you may meet here, will tell a story more real about me than what I might choose to write about myself on this “about” page.

I am often reminded of a song I heard decades ago and like a lot. This particular version was sung by Barbra Streisand. The song, entitled “Everything”, pretty much sums up a lot about me. Here are the verses:

Everything

I want to learn what life is for
I don’t want much, I just want more
Ask what I want and I will sing
I want everything (everything)

I’d cure the cold and the traffic jam
If there were floods, I’d give a damn
I’d never sleep, I’d only sing
Let me do everything (everything)

I’d like to plan a city, play the cello
Play at Monte Carlo, play Othello
Move into the White House, paint it yellow
Speak Portuguese and Dutch
And if it’s not too much
I’d like to have the perfect twin
One who’d go out as I came in
I’ve got to grab the big brass ring
So I’ll have everything (everything)

I’m like a child who’s set free
At the fun fair
Every ride invites me
And it’s unfair
Saying that I only
Get my one share
Doesn’t seem just
I could live as I must
If they’d
Give me the time to turn a tide
Give me the truth if once I lied
Give me the man who’s gonna bring
More of everything
Then I’ll have everything
Everything

I do want everything. Everything good. To have, to be, and to share. That’s the purpose of Life, I believe.  And the journey.

  1. Deb,
a pile of crab for lunch in St. Pete….I remember the day and my numb brained non-response to your comment about it being a shame to get dressed up just for lunch…and with Dale Chalulli beaconing just down the block. Cathy sent me this link and I am enjoying it immensely! Hope all is well and joy for you as days pass.

    • Well, Don, I remember the great lunch, the gorgeous day, the culture all around, and especially the incredibly wonderful people in my company. I do not, however, have any recollection of my commenting about what to wear (now…if anything should have been brain frozen…that would be it). Mostly, I do remember that the friends at the table that day were anything but numb brained. It was a lovely day. Nice to hear from you. Thanks for tuning in. The blog is a newbie, in need of constant alteration, and fun nevertheless.
      Take care.
      Deb
